Subsidies in Brno

Subsidies for air conditioning in Brno: when you can realistically obtain them

Almost every second customer asks about this. The answer is not "yes, everyone can get it" - that is why you will also find here when the claim does not arise. So you do not wait unnecessarily for money that will not come.

Most people calling me in Brno about air conditioning mainly want to survive the summer in an attic on Žabovřesky or on the top floor of a panel block in Líšeň. That is cooling, and there are no subsidies for cooling. However, if you are also addressing heating and your air conditioning is to replace direct electric heaters or an old boiler, you enter a different category: an air-to-air heat pump, which is subsidised.

The only difference is what the unit is used for, not how it looks on the wall. That's why during the survey I always ask how you heat your home now: from the answer it becomes clear whether it makes sense to talk about a subsidy at all.

When does air conditioning qualify for a subsidy and when does it not?

There is no subsidy for air conditioning units designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating.

Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.

Who in Brno qualifies for subsidies and who does not

The most common situation in Brno where the subsidy is not available: an apartment in a panel building or a tenement house. NZÚ Light is intended for owners of detached houses, so the owner of a 3+1 flat in Královo Pole does not qualify, even if they otherwise meet all income conditions.

Where it pays off instead: detached houses in outlying districts, Bystrc, Kníničky, Jundrov, Soběšice, where heating is still provided by direct electric heaters or old boilers and a senior or a low-income household lives there. There, an air conditioner with a heating function offers lower operating costs and qualifies as a supported investment at the same time.

What we provide for the application

  • certificate of authorisation for handling regulated substances (F-gases)
  • technical parameters of the installed unit including the heating factor
  • documents confirming installation and commissioning

The grant provider alone decides on the subsidy award. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.

Frequently asked questions about subsidies

I live in an apartment in Brno. Can I get a subsidy for air conditioning?

No for NZÚ Light, that targets owners of detached houses. Currently, there are no air conditioning subsidies available for flats in Brno. However, this does not mean installation is not worthwhile: an air conditioner with a heating function will save you on electricity during the shoulder season even without a subsidy.

Can you help me in Brno with processing my application?

We will prepare the documentation required by the programme from the installation company, proof of F-gas authorisation, technical parameters of the unit and installation certificates. The property owner submits the application itself, as household income must be verified.

Can I get a subsidy for an air conditioner that only cools?

No. There is no subsidy for an air conditioner intended solely for cooling. Subsidies apply to air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating. If you are purchasing the unit purely for summer cooling, it does not qualify for subsidy programmes.

Does the installation have to be carried out by a company with F-gas certification?

Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.

Do you guarantee that I will receive the subsidy?

The grant provider alone decides on the subsidy award. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.
