How often to service an air conditioner
For air conditioning in flats or detached houses, I recommend an annual service, ideally in spring before the season starts. For units in offices, medical practices or business premises that run almost daily and are used by several people, twice-yearly servicing is more cost-effective, in spring and autumn.
What servicing and cleaning involves
- Cleaning and disinfection of filters and evaporator in the indoor unit
- Leak tightness test of the refrigeration circuit with R32 refrigerant
- Recharging refrigerant if inspection reveals a loss
- Inspection and cleaning of the condensate drain to prevent the unit from dripping into the room.

A clogged filter and evaporator force the compressor to work harder to achieve the same cooling, so the air conditioner unnecessarily consumes more electricity and draws more dust and bacteria into the room than it should.

If the unit suddenly starts knocking loudly, fails to heat or cool at all, or gushes water, do not wait for the regular annual service and call immediately. It could be a refrigerant leak or a blocked condensate drain, which will not fix itself and will only worsen over time.

For offices, medical practices or business premises where air conditioning runs almost daily for most of the year, a service package is cost-effective. We schedule regular visits in advance and invoice the company directly, so you don't have to arrange each visit separately.
Do you need to be home for the service?
All you need to do is provide access to the flat or house and the indoor units. If the outdoor unit is accessible from outside, for example from a balcony or garden, I can carry out this part of the service without you being present. We just need to agree in advance on how I will access it.
